A Simple Process for Hiring a Legitimate, Stress Free Janitorial Cleaning Service

Have you ever tried to hire a cleaning service for your office building? If so, you’ll know that it’s difficult because we are a dime a dozen. So what do you do? Many people have found success by using the internet for positive reviews, and asking the right questions on a consult, but there are a few things you should know before you sign a contract and let any old cleaning company in your building. This post will tell you what you need to know to make sure you select a legitimate Janitorial Service that will let you have a sense of freedom.  

If you’re looking for a rockstar cleaning service, the best method to ensure you end up with something that lets you feel comfortable is by looking for these things:

 

  • Make sure they have a consultant come out to meet you, and not just give you a price over the phone! Moreover, don’t ask them to give you a price without someone seeing the property, It will end badly for both of you.
  • Are they insured, bonded, and carrying Workman’s compensation? Best to ask before going through the entire process, and before having them come out on the consultation. This will weed out any hack companies, and fine tune your search,
  • Ask them what their Core Values are. How do they match up with your company’s Core Values? If you see they are wildly different, then you know it’s not a great fit, move on.
  • What type of employees do they have? How do they treat them? How happy are the people that work there? After all, they are the ones that will have the ALARM CODES and KEYS to your building.
  • How does the company check out online? How is their social media presence? Do they have one, and is it positive? It’s nice to see what your cleaning service is up to, and to feel like a part of their community.
  • How are they priced compared to other services? Did they come in way too low, because if that’s the case, you need to ask them why, and what they offer. There is a reason low ball cleaning services move from business to business, and don’t stick around long. If a company comes in way too low, ask to see the scope of work, and ask all the above questions!
  • Go over in detail, EXACTLY what you are looking for in a cleaning service, and EXACTLY what you would like done in your office or building. The more specific you can be, the better off the scope of work will look, and the better communications will be.
  • Last but certainly not least, is to talk openly and honestly about what it is you are REALLY looking for. Example, “I just want my toilets clean.”  See below…

What is your WHY?

Ok, well, WHY do you want them clean? Is it because you have important clients coming in and you need the bathrooms to look their best, or they won’t be impressed with you and your business, hence won’t buy from you? Now that’s a good why, which now gives the cleaning service a better understanding and a more significant purpose, rather than, “Just clean my office, OK?” We don’t respond well to, “I just want it clean”.

There’s no passion there, no real pain for us to solve. Give the cleaning service something to work towards, and give them a passion to fulfill!

Look, I would absolutely print this out and have a copy in the hand of whoever is meeting with the cleaning service that is going to give you the cleaning bid. This little list acts as a safeguard against any potential terrible services out there, and can really give you a good sense of what the correct way to go about finding that quality cleaning service.

Disclaimer: This doesn’t mean you won’t find a crappy one by using this, it just means you can be one step ahead, and weed out 90% of the really bad ones, to get to the gold. We know it’s not easy, but you need to be on your game, and ask the right questions so you can understand whether those questions get answered poorly, or they get answered like rockstars.

Now that you have the navigational tools to weed out every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a mop and a bucket, you should be able to keep your cleaning service for years and years to come.
